The first night we went to a
great sushi bar that's very nearby, I had a plate of rolls topped
with cream cheese and avocado, and it was warm... different AND
delicious! |
| Since we were across
the street, we walked over and rode Mission Bay's antique roller
coaster, the "Giant Dipper". It was family night so rides were half-price,
lucky! Boy do I feel bad for early coaster riders. I greatly prefer
today's modern smooth coasters; even the newer woodies are smoother
than this thing. I'll ride anything once, but please, once is enough
for the Giant Dipper. I appreciate that they refurbished it, and
for coaster fanatics, it's a must ride. |

The Bahia's resident rescued seal. |
First morning at the Bahia,
I called room service and ordered eggs & sausage. They brought me
eggs and bacon, when I had ordered eggs& sausage... again! Oh wait,
that was a different hotel, yesterday, same mistake, 150 miles away,
two days in a row. Again, they brought me sausage soon thereafter,
so the meal was enough to feed both of us. Bizarre coincidence,
I must say. |

We slept in after breakfast
and once we got up we drove around Mission Beach, Pacific Beach
and La Jolla. We went to a fun used CD store, and ate at a cute
Italian place. |

Everyone who drank a bottle
of Chianti got to sign it and they hung all over the restaurant.
La Jolla is beautiful; we had a great time simply admiring the ocean.
We saw a couple of seals and lots of local birds. |
