A. A. Milne - born Alan Alexander Milne. The world was first introduced to A. A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh in the London Evening News on December 24, 1925 where In Which We Are Introduced To Winnie-the-Pooh and Some Bees, and the Stories Begin was first printed. Soon after publication of Winnie-the-Pooh, Milne had written in The Nation, "I suppose that everyone of us hopes secretly for immortality; to leave, I mean, a name behind him which will live forever in this world, whatever he may be doing, himself, in the next."
Ernest H. Shepard (Illustrator) E. H. Shepard was born only a five minute walk from the birthplace of A. A. Milne, but it would be many years before they met, when their names would be linked for all time to one of the most loved bears, Winnie-the-Pooh. -
